Please note the headline! Anyone who cannot prove via substantial evidence that they are 1) a Rastafarian 2) a transsexual and 3) a bona-fide dragon hunter (RTDH) with a record of successful kills -- preferably of adult, regulation-sized, (winged) fire-breathers -- will be barred from discussing the Newsvine 3.0 beta program.
If AND ONLY IF I determine that adequate proof has been provided will a given RTDH be allowed to discuss the beta.
I am a beta tester. I am not a Rastafarian, a transsexual, or a dragon hunter -- at least not professionally -- so I will not be commenting on or discussing the beta here. (My participation alone means I cannot do so.) I will however strictly moderate the discussion to ensure compliance with the above rules. That being said, I suspect the RTDH contingent on Newsvine has real concerns and so it totally makes sense to provide a premature forum for discussion limited to that segment of the community which, let's face it, has unique issues and expectations that no one else, ever, would share. Sadly, as far as I'm aware -- and I'm basing this solely on rumors and wild speculation -- no one in the beta testing group is any of these three things, let alone all of them at once. WTF!? The new site is automatically going to suck!
Will the RTDH community be segregated from other Rastafarians? Will they have a (slightly raspy, herb-scented) voice? Will their unique perspective be censored? Will they be mocked? Will they have a place to discuss their gender/religious issues and dangerous occupation in private, away from the prying eyes of the community-at-large?
I'm very concerned about all of this. I have no hard evidence that any of my concerns are rooted in reality or worth worrying about at this early stage, but I'm incredibly upset and am determined to provide a forum so that this under-represented (but vital) segment of the community can vent their similarly baseless and uninformed concerns over and over and over again no matter the reassurances.
I realize I could simply trust that any concern the RTDH community might have is almost certainly also a concern of someone from the incredibly diverse group of beta testers who have been selected to suss all this out -- and thus a concern that is already being addressed in some way shape or form by the Newsvine staff -- but I'm far too impatient and worked-up to think (or care) about anything like that.
Remember: If you attempt to discuss the beta IN ANY WAY and you are not a member of the RTDH community, your comment will be censored first and ridiculed second. Proof first. Discussion second. No exceptions.
